Olive harvest 2024

With this year's olive harvest complete, we can confidently say that the season has been good in general terms. The production volume has been abundant, thanks to consistent rainfall throughout the year, which helped the olives replenish their water reserves. Additionally , the olive trees that we had to cut back due to Filomena (as they froze) have started producing again this year. Furthermore, the oil yield has been quite good (around 18% on average), which will be reflected in the quality of the oil and the earnings from the delivered olives.

Harvesting is done manually using Sthil shakers, as the trees currently have a small structure (thin trunks) and the older olive trees have multiple trunks, leaving us with limited mechanization options. However, if growth continues at its current pace, we are already considering mechanized harvesting next year with umbrella harvesters. We will monitor how the olive trees develop throughout 2025 and we will keep you posted.

Regarding the oil mill, we continue delivering our entire production to the Nuestro Nazareno Cooperative (Sisante - Cuenca), where we have been members for many years. The cooperative has consistently provided us with good profits and produces fantastic olive oil.

Finally, we would like to wish you a happy and prosperous year 2025. May the coming year bring health and bountiful harvests.... with that, farmers will be unstoppable!

MF eXperience Tour 2024

At the end of October we had the opportunity to attend one of the stops of the MF eXperience Tour 2024, held this time in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville).  It is the second time that we have participated in this demotour, the previous visit took place in Albacete. Despite the rain, which, coincidentally, has accompanied us on both occasions, the truth is that it was still a very enjoyable and engaging day .

As we’ve mentioned before, this event is designed with farmers in mind, focusing on a smaller, select group of participants. This allows for a more personalized experience, where each attendee has the chance to test the equipment, ask questions, and receive tailored attention.

It’s a ‘family’ event that provides a detailed and hands-on overview of the products from the renowned French manufacturer, Massey Ferguson. For those who haven’t had the chance to attend yet, we highly recommend it—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

The two times we have attended, we’ve missed the opportunity to conduct proper field tests. We have only been able to test the tractors on the street, which makes the experience feel somewhat incomplete. On this occasion, a field was prepared for testing some Ovlac implements, but the constant rain throughout the day made it impossible. One of our recommendations would be to focus future tests in the field rather than on the street to truly showcase the equipment’s capabilities.

Focusing on our visit, here are the highlights:

  • The new MF 9S Series: We saw it for the first time, specifically the MF 9S.425 with Dyna-VT stepless transmission. This series replaces the 8700 S Series. This is a model that definitely needs to be tested in the field with a large implement to appreciate its full potential.
  • The MF 8S: We had the chance to test this model, and it left a strong impression. It’s a very interesting tractor, featuring an attractive design, a spacious cab, and a remarkably smooth ride. We’ve already tested it in the field previously, and it performed exceptionally well.
  • The MF 5S with the loader: This is a perfect combination for small farmers, second tractors, and livestock farms.
  • The new MF 5M Series: We were introduced to the renewed series, with improvements in many aspects and now manufactured in Beauvais, France.

In conclusion, this event provided an excellent and comprehensive overview of the Massey Ferguson brand. It offered a hands-on opportunity to test tractors in a friendly and welcoming environment, rounded off with a great meal and enjoyable after-dinner conversation.
