Samo passenger seat

A few weeks ago we decided to update the passenger seat of our Deutz-Fahr M600 Agrotron... This is the third time we have changed it in the 11 years that the tractor has been in use, so we decided to look for the best alternative to the original seat, since it is made of plastic and it is not very robust. So, when we searched on the Internet, we found Samo Machinenbau GmgH brand, where we discovered several different seats, which seemed to be very well manufactured. We contacted them to request a new seat and in a few days, the seat was at home... the whole process was very simple.

Samo Machinenbau GmbH is located in Thomasroith (Austria) and its main business activities are:

  • Manufacturing of intelligent implements for crop ploughing (Variochop).
  • Pneumatic cab suspension for CNH.
  • Protectors for CNH y Claas forestry tractors.
  • Passenger seats for Deutz-Fahr Agrotron series, Fendt 300 and 400 series and John Deere 6000 and 6M series tractors.
  • Engineering work and innovation in the design and manufacture of implements.

In our video you can see how simple it is to install the seat on the tractor. It is practically based on anchoring it with four screws and installing the seat belt. In 10 minutes, it is installed. After a few days with the seat installed, in which we have been working on the pulse vegetables sowing, our opinion is that the seat is very robust and comfortable... we are very happy with the new acquisition.

Despite the challenges 2023 brought to our crops, it's with renewed hope and unwavering optimism that I bid farewell to this chapter. As we turn the page to 2024, let's embrace the dawn of a new year, fueled by the optimism that lies in every seed we sow. May the setbacks of the past year be the fertilizer for our dreams, nurturing them into a season of abundance and prosperity in 2024. Here's to planting new aspirations and cultivating a year filled with resilience, growth, and flourishing harvests.

Happy New Year, 2024!

Olive harvesting 2023

After a difficult year for harvesting, where only 10% of the cereal crop was harvested and no pulse vegetables could be gathered, we are concluding a year of hard work and important economic setbacks with quite acceptable results in our olive grove. While certain olive groves yielded have had no production, the younger ones proved the more fruitful with a good yield.

In order to achieve these good yields in the olive grove, we have had to perform three main precise and persevering work: proper pruning, correct soil management and appropriate phytosanitary and fertiliser treatments. When these three things are done, the olive grove usually thanks you with good yields.

The olive groves harvested were planted in 2018 and 2019, so they have practically entered into production this year. Last year we already collected some olives of them (about 500kg) and this year we had a little more than 4.000kg. On the other hand, the oldest olive grove (about 30 years old) did not produce anything, so we lacked another 5,000 kg. In addition, the olive grove that was destroyed by the famous Filomena storm (planted in 2017) and should be cut to the ground, is still recovering 6 years after it was planted.

All in all, it is a joy to be able to have a good production after a catastrophic summer of cereals and pulse vegetables... we have to recognise that the sunflower was not bad either, although the yields obtained were quite normal. We will continue to work the olive grove so that the fields that have not had a yield this year will have one next year, and for that, the first thing will be to prune them correctly.
