We visited Barriga brothers in their field of purple garlic a few days ago. They were carrying out the last irrigation for this campaign... garlic are watered weekly since May and from now on they won't water any more to let them dry... they will be harvested in two weeks. We think they are going to have a good crop: large size and high quality. From here, we invite all our followers to taste Las Pedroñeras garlic.
When we visited them, they were changing the position of their hose reel as you can see in our video and pictures. It is really interesting, you can see as two people can water any crop with this machinery (even one person can do it, too). It has a handicap because we think this kind of irrigation is worse than traditional one using pipes and sprinklers. This hose reel can be configured to fix it with different conditions about time, crops, caudal, working speed,... (some of them, the most modern ones, have a small computer which manages it and it is really accurate).
About technical characteristics: the working speed was of 2 min/m, the working width was of 53m and the water pressure used was 4.5bar with a water jet diameter of 26mm (they have a pump of 89 m3/h caudal).
